Pacific Parrotlet ,Lesson's Parrotlet, Celestial Parrotlet
Pacific Color Mutation Parrotlets
Species - Forpus coelestis lucida
Personality of Blue Parrotlet
Pacific or Celestial Parrotlets are the most popular of the pet Parrotlets and for good reason. They are the most parrot-like in personality. They are also some of the most beautiful. Hand-fed babies make wonderful pets when placed in a home right after weaning and quickly become beloved members of the household. Blue Parrotlet mutations have an exceptionally sweet, calm personality both as a pet and with other Parrotlets.
History
The Blue Pacific Parrotlets arose in Belgium 1986 in the aviary of the breeder Frans Coppeiters. This beautiful Parrotlet mutation spread rapidly throughout Europe and later to the rest of the world. Blue Parrotlets have been bred for quite some time in Europe and were one of the first color mutation Parrotlet imports into the United States.
Distinguishing Blue Males from Females
Blue Mutation Parrotlets are beautiful colored birds. The male blue Parrotlets have beautiful bright blue markings on wings and lower back. In the lucida sub-species the gray coloring on the back and wings on the males adds a beautiful contrast to the soft blue. Female blue Parrotlets do not have these markings. Both male and female blue Parrotlets have blue coloring that can differ between birds but is a soft sky blue color.

Female Blue Pacific Parrotlet |
Pacific parrotlets
(forpus ceolestis)
At less than 6-inches in length and weighing only 28 grams, Pacific arrotlets are animated, free spirited little creatures that are packed full of personality and popular pets.
Although tiny, they should be cared for like any other large parrot.
The most commonly seen parrotlet in the pet bird trade is the Pacific parrotlet, also known as the ?celestial.? These birds originated in Ecuador and Peru.
Color
The Pacific parrotlets are olive green with pink beaks. The males are dark blue in the wings, backs, and rumps, and females are various shades of green. Parrotlets are one of the few sexually dimorphic birds.
They also come in a variety of color mutations, including yellow, blue, albino and lutinos.
Pacific parrotlets are fairly good breeders although it is highly recommended to wait until they are fully mature (12 months) before breeding. They can lay between 5-7 eggs in a clutch.
Pacific parrotlets can learn to speak (males usually have a larger vocabulary). They can be taught a variety of cute little tricks. Since these birds can live 15-20 years it is very important that they are taught basic manners!
Care and Diet
Parrotlets should be housed in cages that are longer than tall with a maximum bar spacing of 1/2? to 5/8?. The cage should also be equipped with a variety of perches, durable toys, and a swing.
Parrotlets should be fed pellets, nutri-berries, a variety of vegetables, greens, and hardboiled eggs. These little birds have a voracious appetite so should be offered a large amount of food daily.
Fresh water and cuttlebones should also be made available.

The Eagle?s Nest
Since 1960, the Eagle?s Nest has been managed by the Berchtesgaden tourist board and run by a local concessionaire as a mountain top restaurant.
The impressive edifice with its meter thick walls is situated atop the Kehlstein mountain offering guests a breathtaking view over the Berchtesgaden area.
The theatrical aspects of the project are already encountered with
the 124 m (406 ft) marble-like stone tunnel that leads to a splendid brass elevator.
In only 41 seconds, the lift travels another 124 meters into the Eagle?s Nest building itself.
Information
sea level 1834 m
construction period 1 year
lift 124 m
tunnel 124 m
panorama view up to 200
The History
The Eagle?s Nest was designed as a birthday present for Adolf Hitler?s 50th birthday by Martin Bormann on behalf of the NSDAP (Nazi Party). Hitler in fact seldom visited the Eagle?s Nest. The allied bombing of World War II did not damage the Eagle?s Nest and thanks to the intervention of former Governor Jacob, the Eagle?s Nest was spared being blown up after the war.
Today the Eagle?s Nest remains in its original state. In 1960, on the occasion of the 150th celebration of Berchtesgaden?s incorporation into Bavaria, the Bavarian government relinquished its control of the building to a trust that ensures that the proceeds are used for charitable purposes.
